Online Manuscripts Databases and Projects

While the exploration of the technology for cross-file searching continues, we think it is useful to our progress, and probably also to others, to publish the list of Web-based databases and projects as it stands at present. Awareness of the many projects that are under development highlights the need to investigate how the world at large can benefit most from all these initiatives.

As part of the exploration of the technology for cross-file searching of manuscripts databases, CERL has compiled a list of Web-based databases and projects involving manuscripts. Awareness of the many projects that are under development highlights the need to investigate how best to benefit from these initiatives.

The first version of the list was a preliminary document, based on information obtained through various channels, including a questionnaire, and not least the kind help of colleagues. It has been updated and enhanced several times and is now being maintained by Mrs Mura Ghosh (University College, London). We would be grateful for all updates, corrections and further news that can be included in the list. Please send any such information by e-mail to: mghosh@ull.ac.uk, re: Manuscripts Project.
