 +Op 1 mei begonnen Ruben Celani (Italië), Judit Kolumban (Roemenië) en Maria O'Shea (Ierland) aan hun onderzoek naar de incunabelen, de boeken gedrukt tussen 1450 en 1501, in de KB. Zij hebben alle drie een beurs gekregen van het Consortium van European Research Libraries om een maand lang de incunabelen te beschrijven in de Material Evidence in Incunabula database. In deze internationale database van CERL en het 15th Century Booktrade Project in Oxford, worden onze incunabelen zeer zorgvuldig beschreven: de herkomst, de watermerken, de boekbanden, de versiering, de vroegere eigenaars. Hierdoor wordt het mogelijk onderzoek te doen naar de verspreiding van boeken en ideeën door Europa door de eeuwen heen. Zij kunnen voortbouwen op het vele onderzoek dat voormalig conservator Gerard van Thienen naar provenances en watermerken heeft gedaan. De vierde persoon op de foto is Lauren Leenders, de eerste van drie Nederlandse stagiaires die de komende maanden vanwege de Gerard van Thienen Grant eveneens aan dit project komen werken. Op deze manier komen de KB-incunabelen nog beter in beeld van internationale onderzoekers.
