Provenance data in the CERL Thesaurus
Although the CERL Thesaurus records do not contain bibliographical data for provenances, records for Personal Names and Corporate Names may hold links to provenance information held on OPACs and other databases on the internet.
Users of the Thesaurus can limit their searches to include only those records for which provenance information is available.
Currently, data from the following libraries are available:

Provenance names from the Law Society’s Mendham Collection housed at Canterbury Cathedral Library. Linking is established to the bibliographic records in the University of Kent OPAC.

Provenance information, which is recorded in the Base Provenance des Livres Anciens has been made available for the CERL Thesaurus by courtesy of the Bibliothèque Municipale de Lyon. The Provenance Database features former owner records with images of marks of ownership, dates indicating when these were used, transcriptions and descriptions on the marks of ownership as well as biographical or historical information where available. Reference is given to the books the marks were digitized from.

Provenance information, which is recorded in the Katalog der Wolfenbütteler Lutherdrucke 1513 bis 1546 has been made available for the CERL Thesaurus by courtesy of the Herzog-August-Biblithek Wolfenbüttel. This bibliographic database provides information on 5,910 copies of Martin Luther's works held by the library. In addition the detailed bibliographic description, there are more than 2,000 digitised images of illustrations and title pages accessible via this database.

Provenance names from the EBOB database recording private ownership of printed books in Britain in the late 15th and early 16th century, created by Margaret Lane Ford for her contribution to The Cambridge History of the Book in Britain, volume 3.
