+Aldus Manutius (c. 1450–1515) is a **towering figure** in the history of the book. He and his partners established the Aldine Press in Venice and his **legacy** includes the italic type, a number of first editions, and his trademark pocket-sized octavo volumes of classical Greek and Latin texts. This **display** to mark the 500th anniversary of his death tells the story of Aldus's remarkable career through books held in the **Bodleian**.
